PrimaLoft jackets versus classic down jackets.
Down has always been the perfect filling for a good, insulating winter jacket. You can easily compare the two. PrimaLoft is engineered to have the same soft feel as down, with PrimaLoft being significantly warmer and not as thick as down. Down gets heavier when it gets wet and it loses much of its insulating ability. PrimaLoft does not.
The fibers in the materials form small air pockets that retain heat, which is why the insulation constantly works around the body, so you can keep warm even in the extreme cold weather.
PrimaLoft is water-repellent, and it retains your body heat very well, so you are always dry, warm and insulated in wind and weather.
Products with PrimaLoft have very good breathability and transport moisture away when you sweat. The fibers in PrimaLoft's products can easily be squeezed together without it being destroyed when you pack it in a backpack or suitcase. It makes it much easier to carry around when you're going somewhere cold.
